Sajama 2D/1
DAY 1 Departing from the city of La Paz, you will head to Sajama National Park, Bolivia's first protected area. En route, you will visit the *chullpas*—pre-Columbian tombs built by the Aymara people to house their mummies. Next, you will stop at the church of Curahuara de Carangas; adorned with 17th-century frescoes, it is considered the "Sistine Chapel" of the Altiplano. Afterward, you will arrive at the park and the local village to stay at the community-run hotel, situated at the foot of the magnificent snow-capped peak of Sajama (6,543 meters)—Bolivia's highest mountain. In the afternoon, you will enjoy the hot springs and relax amidst the natural surroundings. DAY 2 After breakfast, you will visit the volcanic geysers while admiring the park's beauty. Then, you will head to the *queñua* forests—home to the highest-altitude trees in the world. Finally, you will return to La Paz, stopping for lunch along the way.
